Fitness Tracker
Motivational and Easy-to-use Fitness Tracking Application
Final Figma Prototype
Project Overview
Many college students struggle to maintain an active lifestyle due to time constraints, lack of motivation, and ineffective fitness tracking solutions. Our team designed a high-fidelity prototype for a fitness tracker application specifically tailored for college students. The app aims to bridge the gap between motivation and action by providing accurate step tracking, goal-setting features, and social engagement tools to encourage long-term fitness habits.

My Role
I played a key role in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing, ensuring that the final product aligned with students’ fitness needs. I also contributed to refining the design rationale and interface enhancements, incorporating feedback to improve usability and engagement.
The Challenge
Many college students find fitness trackers ineffective due to inaccurate step counts, lack of motivation, and poor engagement features. Additionally, some users manipulate data to cheat step goals, undermining the purpose of tracking. The goal of this project was to design an engaging, intuitive, and accurate fitness tracking experience that fosters accountability and habit formation.
Process & Key Takeaways

Research & Discovery
-
Conducted surveys and interviews with college students to understand their fitness habits, challenges, and attitudes toward fitness trackers.

-
Explored behavioral science research on habit formation and motivation to design features that encourage long-term engagement.

-
Analyzed existing fitness tracker apps to identify pain points such as inconsistent tracking, lack of gamification, and overwhelming interfaces.

Ideation & Wireframing
-
Developed low-fidelity sketches and mapped user flows to ensure an intuitive experience.

-
Prioritized features like goal setting, real-time tracking, social competition, and motivational messages.

-
Created mid-fidelity wireframes in Figma, refining the layout for clarity, accessibility, and engagement.

Prototyping & Testing
-
Designed a high-fidelity interactive prototype, focusing on intuitive navigation and gamification elements.

-
Conducted usability testing to gather feedback on step accuracy, leaderboard motivation, and user interface clarity.

-
Iterated on the prototype, improving visual hierarchy, engagement features, and accessibility based on user feedback.
